Known as Havre des Pas, the residential area around The Ommaroo was built in the Victorian era as a seaside resort. The sea swimming pool is as popular today as it was when it first opened...in 1895. Also take time to admire the spectacular tidal range: the island doubles in size at low tide, a phenomenon best observed on the south coast.

Our room 962 we eventually found was on the same level as reception but not until we had taken the stairs with baggage to where the other rooms of similar numbers where. Clearer instruction from the Reception staff would have helped. One of the corridors stank of smoke, i reported this to Reception...

The hotel was in a good location. A bit more variety for the continental side of breakfast would be appreciated, such as a choice of jams (not everyone likes strawberry) and boiled eggs, which would help to broaden out the selection.

Whilst the overall appearance of the hotel was good, our room was in need of a bit of updating. Tiles missing in bathroom, top of tap was missing and the bath was stained. The dining room was big and welcoming as were the staff.
Unfortunately one evening they had a group of maybe sixteen or more...
