About Liverpool

Once Britain’s second most important city in trade, and now arguably one of the most worthy of a weekend visit, Liverpool buzzes with life. Home to more museums and galleries than any city outside London and with a rich seam of musical history running through its veins, there’s no wonder that Liverpool has in the past been voted European city of culture.

From the UNESCO World Heritage listed Albert Docks with their iconic historic buildings, to the bustling regenerated shopping centre and peaceful green spaces of Sefton Park, there are a multitude of areas to be discovered within the city limits.

Renowned for their warmth and welcoming attitude, Liverpudlians (or Scousers) are rightly proud of their home town and all it has to offer.

Day 1: Guernsey or Jersey to Liverpool

Guernsey clients will meet your Bontour Tour Manager in Guernsey Airport for check in at least one hour prior to your 10.50 departure.

Jersey clients will be greeted at Jersey Airport by a Bontour representative at least one hour prior to your departure at 12.10, before being met on arrival at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

A comfortable transfer will whisk you to your hotel. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes.

Pullman Hotel

You will be staying at the 4* Pullman Hotel, conveniently located a short walk from the popular Albert Dock area, and close to the shopping centre.

Your first afternoon will be free to get your bearings and begin exploring the city, before re-joining the group and your Tour Manager for a delicious 3 course welcome dinner in the hotel.

Day 2: Liverpool City Tour

After a substantial breakfast at the hotel you will be collected by coach around 10.00am for a full day tour of Liverpool, conducted by an experienced and knowledgeable local guide.

You all have a ‘ticket to ride’ and the day begins with a Magical Mystery Tour taking in some of the sights, and sounds, of Liverpool’s most famous export, The Beatles. Accompanied by a soundtrack of all your favourite Fab Four classics, you will visit Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields and John Lennon’s former home, with time to stop for photographs.

Cathedral

Next on the agenda is a visit to one of Liverpool’s two spectacular Cathedrals, before stopping for a slap-up lunch of traditional Scouse; a hearty meat stew that has been a staple of the area since it arrived with visiting European sailors sometime in the Nineteenth century. The dish eventually became so synonymous with Liverpool that its name was adopted as a byword for someone local to the area. (A vegetarian option is available).

The tour continues in the afternoon with a panoramic tour of Liverpool’s own World Heritage Site, including the Cultural and Georgian Quarters, and impressive central Library with its Victorian round reading room.

To round off this engrossing day, you will travel by coach under the Mersey River to Seacombe, before embarking on a journey made famous all over the world by the Gerry & the Pacemakers and taking the Ferry ‘cross the Mersey back to Liverpool.

Once back on dry land you will be transferred back to your hotel, and the evening is at leisure. Perhaps take a stroll around the vibrant and bustling Albert Dock and enjoy dinner in one of the many restaurants in the area.

Day 3: The Beatles Story & Cavern Club

Enjoy another tasty breakfast in your hotel before departing the hotel with your Tour Manager for a morning visit to the nearby Beatles Story on the Albert Dock.

Entrance to the museum is included, and visitors are taken on an incredible journey through the career of the most famous band the world has seen to date. From humble beginnings in 1960s working class Liverpool through their stratospheric rise to worldwide adoration and the phenomenon of ‘Beatlemania’. Including lovingly recreated key locations and a host of authentic memorabilia, there is no aspect of the lives and times of the Beatles that is overlooked here.

After allowing plenty of time to explore this immersive experience, there will be opportunity if you wish to visit the world renowned Cavern Club with your Tour Manager.

Penny Lane

Having opened in 1957 as a Jazz Club, the Cavern quickly became the epicentre of the Liverpool rock and roll scene, and its subterranean stage played host to such well-known names as the Beatles, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Cilla Black and The Searchers, amongst many others.

Having celebrated its 60th year in 2017, the Cavern Club is still going strong and offers live music from mid-afternoon to late evening every day of the week.

The rest of the day is at leisure. You may choose to visit one of the many museums and galleries such as the fantastic Merseyside Maritime Museum or the Tate Liverpool, both conveniently located on the docks. Alternatively you could take a trip up Radio City Tower and view the city and it’s surrounds from a whole new angle. Shoppers should head straight for Liverpool ONE where over 130 high street and high end shops are open until 8pm.

Dinner this evening is once again at leisure.

Day 4: Liverpool to the Channel Islands

After a final leisurely breakfast in the hotel, you will check out and meet your Tour Manager at approximately 10.00am for return coach transfer back to the Airport. Your Tour Manager will escort you through check in and security before waving a fond farewell to Guernsey clients for their Blue Islands departure at 12.50, and accompanying Jersey clients back to the Island on their Easyjet departure at 13.00.

Guernsey clients will arrive back in the Island at 14.20, whilst Jersey clients will arrive home at 14.10
