Please note, the GUERNSEY DEPARTURES will depart on Friday 29th March with an overnight stay with breakfast at the 3* Best Western Royal Hotel in the centre of St. Helier. You will join the rest of the group on the Saturday morning at the airport, together with your Tour Manager. Airport transfers can be booked at an additional cost.

Day 1: Jersey to La Gomera

Your Bontour Tour Manager will be waiting for you at Jersey Airport to assist you with check-in and accompany you on-board your flight to Tenerife South Airport. The flight departs at 9.10am and takes approximately 4 hours.

On arriving you will get your first glimpse of the Island of Eternal Spring before driving for approximately 30 minutes to Los Cristianos Harbour. From there, you will take the fast ferry (50 minutes) to the magical island of La Gomera.

    Jardin Tecina

La Gomera was the very last stop Christopher Columbus made before heading west to the New World. The second smallest of the Canary Islands, this unique island offers amazing landscapes from ancient forests of ferns, babbling streams, black sandy beaches, craggy peaks, palm filled valleys and white washed villages. The island is a natural paradise – a Biosphere Reserve - home to species that are no longer found anywhere else.

From the harbour you will transfer to the first hotel of your stay, the beautiful 4* Hotel Jardin Tecina. Buffet dinner is included this evening, served at the hotel. This is the perfect occasion to get to know your travel companions.

Day 2: La Gomera – Island Tour

Leaving your hotel at 9am after breakfast with a view, you will be taken by bus with a local guide to discover La Gomera’s most impressive landmarks.

Your first stop is Roque de Agando, a natural monument located between the ravines of La Laja and Benchijigua. This is spectacular example of volcanic activity creating unique and spell-binding rock formations. Passing through the incredible views offered by the National Park you will stop for a short walk to fully enjoy the natural beauty and then head north towards Hermigua, well-known for its banana plantations. Continuing your journey you will arrive at Agulo, the "Bombón de La Gomera", a colonial village located on a plateau surrounded by a luscious banana belt. Here you will discover the very peculiar Whistle Language of this tiny island.

    La Gomera

Today, lunch is included and you are treated to the Mirador de Abrante, famous for its amazing views and its heart-racing 7 metre long glass-bottom walkway overhanging the plateau below. On your way back we will drive through the fertile region of Vallehermoso and visit the ‘holy’ springs of Epina. Your final stop for the day is the stone village of El Cercado where you will see traditional potters, mostly women, at work.

Buffet dinner is included for you to enjoy at your leisure in your hotel.

Day 3: La Gomera - Day at leisure

Enjoy a full day at your own pace in La Gomera. Your hotel offers the perfect facilities to relax in nature from Club Laurel with a salt water pool surrounded by Balinese beds to the Eco-Finca that supplies the restaurant. There is also a fabulous adults only spa to pamper yourself and in total 5 swimming pools plus Jacuzzis. For those who want to walk a little, the hotel is set in a botanical garden of 70,000 square metres; a living museum adorned with more than fifty species of plants from around the world.

    La Gomera 2

Again, buffet dinner is included at the hotel.

Day 4: Masca & Garachico, Tenerife

After breakfast you will wave goodbye to this cosy island and take the fast ferry back to Tenerife. Upon arrival to Los Cristianos your guide will be waiting to greet you as you begin your discovery of some of the lesser known parts of Tenerife. This begins with Los Gigantes and magnificent views over the highest cliff in Europe.

Driving along the mountains through landscapes full of nature you will reach the hamlet of Masca, one of Teno Country Park's most charming attractions with cottages lined up along the mountain ridges. The hamlet is an excellent example of traditional Canarian architecture using masonry and wood for conceptual simplicity to adapt to the surroundings.

    Garachico

Your next stop is in Garachico with its pretty cobbled streets that were reborn after the village was almost destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 1706 and then rebuilt to be even more charming. Continuing your journey you will discover Icod de los Vinos, known for its famous Dragon Tree, el Drago Milenario. The famous 'thousand-year-old Dragon" (although its age is officially 800 years) is one of the most important natural, cultural and historic symbols of the Canary Islands.

Check-in to your new hotel, the coastal 4* Sol Costa Atlantis. Have a relaxing evening with buffet dinner included at the hotel.

Day 5: Mount Teide & La Orotava

After a hearty breakfast you start the day driving through the evergreen valley of La Orotava, a village where the lanes and buildings point towards its past cultural splendour. You will be joined in the village by a group of local actors and musicians who will tell the history of the village in a very special way walking you through the streets. Before leaving you will enjoy some traditional tapas washed down with a glass of local wine.

    Mount Teide National Park

In the afternoon you leave for the UNESCO World Heritage Site and the dramatic landscapes of the National Park of Las Cañadas. You will discover more about Tenerife’s 400 volcanos and from the impressive viewpoint of Roques de García you have a breath-taking view of Mt. Teide, the highest peak in Spain at 3.718 metres. Breathe the clean mountain air and walk amongst the old flows of black lava and colourful rock formations that dominate this lunar landscape.

A leisurely evening is ahead of you with buffet dinner included at your hotel.

Day 6: La Laguna & Winery

You destination for today is La Laguna, a meeting place where modern minds and young students gather around the first university in the Canary Islands. The pedestrianised streets in the city centre are always bustling with life, street musicians and locals frequenting traditional taverns, restaurants and bars.

Explore the churches, mansions and historical buildings that make this old and dazzling city a UNESCO World Heritage Site before your lunch stop.

    Wine Casks

Arriving at a local winery you can settle in as you’re served lunch accompanied by an educational wine tasting. Tenerife produces a variety of wines that are served every day at Canarian restaurants with the most exquisite dishes. This is your opportunity to get a real taste of Canarian life, cheers!

In the evening, enjoy your buffet dinner back at the hotel.

Day 7: Puerto de la Cruz - Free day

Today you are free to relax at your hotel or discover your surroundings. Puerto de la Cruz is a popular holiday destination due to its location on the beautiful north coast.

The town centre is beautifully preserved and was declared an Historic-Artistic Site in 1985. In the heart of the centre is the vibrant Plaza del Charco, a great place to orientate yourself before discovering the town and colonial sites such as Casa de la Aduana, Casa Miranda, the La Peña de Francia Church and the Marquesa Hotel.

    Puerto de la Cruz

One of the prettiest spots, worth a stroll, is the fishing harbour near the seaside neighbourhood of La Ranilla, lined with delicious restaurants. On the coast you also have the impressive salt water pool complex designed by architect César Manrique that tempts you to dive in.

In the evening you will enjoy a farewell dinner together at the traditional Restaurante Rancho Grande located on the sea front in Puerto de la Cruz.

    Day 8: Tenerife to Jersey

Your transfer will pick you up at your hotel for check-in at the airport in time for your direct return flight to Jersey at 2pm. For those travelling onto Guernsey, please speak to one of the team about your onward inter-island flight.
